Medulla takes the privacy and security of your data seriously. Here is a summary of how long your information is stored:
Encounter audio recordings are retained for no longer than 48 hours and are used only for transcription and troubleshooting purposes.
Transcripts, clinical notes, generated documents, billing outputs, and any records you attached to a session are kept for the retention period you choose, and are permanently deleted once they are older than it. The default is three months, and you can set anything from two days up to a year.
Deletion runs automatically each night and cannot be undone, so keep the finished note in your EMR — it remains the system of record.
You choose your own retention period under Settings › Data Retention in the Medulla web app.
Medulla does not sell your data or use it for AI model training. All data is primarily stored in Canadian data centres.
